Foster parents - the first step in finding a permanent family

Children who need foster families have been removed from their birth family homes for reasons of neglect, abuse, abandonment, or other issues endangering their health and/or safety. Many of these children are filled with fear, anger, confusion, or a sense of powerlessness at having been removed from the only home they have ever known. They range in age from infant to young adult.

And they all need safe, supportive environments.

Ask any foster care parent and they will tell you about the joy, fun, and fulfillment they have experienced by providing a stable and loving environment for these children. They will tell you that words can't describe the first time a child in placement really looks at you with love and trust. For many of these children, your home will be the first time they experience healthy nurturing. That's an awesome gift to give a child.

All states offer financial support, so don't let that be an excuse for not becoming a foster parent. And pre-placement training is required to help prepare you for becoming a foster parent.

Whether you are married or single, live in an apartment or a house, you can be a foster parent. Becoming a foster parent is an opportunity to care for children who will benefit greatly from your love and support.

Foster parents change lives one child at a time. There is no better time than now for you to help begin that change. To become a foster care parent, contact one of these agencies:
