Wrap-around families build true community

If you are a "doer", someone who loves to help others by running errands, cooking food, or helping with household chores or repairs, then becoming a wrap-around family (even if you are a family of one) can be an incredible blessing to a foster or adoptive family.

Wrap-around families are just that - someone who wraps their arms around a family to offer them support. That support might take the form of shuttling children to soccer practice, picking up groceries, or helping with some yard work. Some adoptive or foster families run short of time when they have to take their children to meetings with a doctor, social worker, or therapist, and they just don't have time to take care of all the household chores. Taking over a casserole or even babysitting for a couple of hours once a month can give adoptive and foster parents that little extra time they need.

If you know an adoptive or foster care family in your neighborhood, ask them if you can help them with anything. If you don't know a family you can help, ask at your place of worship if they know anyone whom you can help. You might even consider forming a wrap-around care group at your place of worship to reach out into the community. The ways you bless others with your activities or services is unlimited.
